WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue golfers finished in first and second place as individuals, helping the Boilermakers pull off a come-from-behind victory at the Lady Northern Invitational in Madison, Wis.

The Boilermakers were in third place at the conclusion of the second round, trailing Michigan State by four strokes and Ohio State by two. Purdue tallied a team total of 289 in the final round to win the tournament by 13 strokes (291-285-289=865). Purdue's one-over-par 865 is the second-best collegiate team 54-hole record at University Ridge Golf Course and the fourth-best 54-hole tournament total in Boilermaker history.

The Spartans and the Buckeyes tied for second with a 14-under-par total of 878.

The two-day tournament was held Sept. 27 and 28 at the University Ridge Golf Course, a par-72, 6,246-yard course and served as a preview for the Big Ten Championships. The field for the Lady Northern Invitational included all 11 conference teams, plus College of Charleston, Georgetown, Iowa State and Southern Methodist.

Purdue junior Maude-Aimee Leblanc, the 2009 Big Ten Championships co-medalist captured first place, finishing with a three-round total of 210 (-6). LeBlanc opened with a 68, shot a 72 in the weather-delayed second round and closed with a two-under par 70 to earn medalist honors. Her three-round total of 210 is a personal best and the victory is the third of her career.

Classmate Numa Gulyanamitta finished in second place, after also firing a two-under par 70 in the final round. Gulyanamitta recorded a three-under par 213 (74-69-70) for the tournament.

Ohio State's Allie White was the only other golfer to finish below-par. She placed third with a one-under par 215.

Boilermaker freshman Laura Gonzalez Escallon tied for ninth with a five-over-par 221. Escallon got off to a slow start with a 77 in the first round on Sunday, but recorded a 71 in the second round and a 73 in the third to move into the top 10.
