Dayton Takes Their Fall Invitational
by DetroitTitans.com (10/25/2012)
KETTERING, Ohio (10/23/2012) -- The Titan women's golf team just keeps on winning as Detroit held on to claim its third tournament title this season with a school-record 588 at the Dayton Fall Invitational, played on the North Course at the NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.

“The ladies played great,” said head coach Terri Anthony-Ryan. “Just seeing how they came back from last week and how beat up we are, this was a great win and a great way to end the fall.”

The Titans posted a 297 in the second round to end with a 588 (291,297), four strokes ahead of Valparaiso. That total is two strokes better than Detroit's 590 it carded in winning the 2011 Detroit Titans Fall Classic, while the 297 second-round mark was the fourth time in school history that UDM has gone under 300.

In the fall campaign, UDM recorded victories at the Detroit Titans Fall Classic (594) and the Youngstown State Invitational (609), and with the win at Dayton, the Titans have now won 12 career tournaments with five coming since the fall of 2011.

Junior Lindsey Lammers led three Titans in the top 10 and four that finished in the top 15.

Lammers – seeing just her second action of the fall due to injury – tied for third with a 143 (69, 74) after carding a 74 on the final 18. She tallied an eagle on the Par 5, 12th hole and ended the event leading the field with a 3-under, 4.25 average on the course's Par 5's.

Senior Allison Sears shared sixth by tying her 18-hole best with a 73 for the second-straight day, and ended with a career-best 146. The sixth-place finish was also her highest in a collegiate tournament.

Junior Christina Thorne tallied a 147 (71, 76) tying for eighth, while senior Collette Hansen shot a 74 in the second round to tie for 15th with a 152 (78, 74). Thorne led all players with 28 pars, while her 147 tied her career best she set at the Fall Classic back in early September. Hansen's15th-place effort was the 21st top-20 performance of her career.

Sophomore Olivia Richards shot a 78 for the second-straight round and her 156 was good for 27th.
