Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State took home the team trophy at the Laker Fall Classic, which concluded with its final round on Tuesday (Sept. 8) at the Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich. The Lakers won by a dozen strokes and had four players finish in the top-10, including junior Allie Tyler, who was the medalist of the tournament.

GVSU took a five-stroke advantage into the second and final round after posting a team score of 306 during Monday's opening round of play. In the second round, the Lakers were just as solid, notching a 308 for a combined score of 614 (+38). Grand Valley State outdistanced second-place Indianapolis, which carded a 626 (+50). Findlay (649, +73), Ashland (650, +74), and Concordia (656, +80) rounded out the top-five schools.

Tyler followed up her even-par round of 72 on Monday with a 74 on Tuesday. She finished the tournament with a 146 (+2) and held off Lyndsay McBride of Indianapolis by six strokes. Senior Ashley Smith shot 78-76 for a score of 154 (+10), which put her in a tie for third place.

Sophomore Sarah Hoffman improved from an 80 to a 76 on Tuesday for a score of 156 (+12) and a tie for sixth place. Senior Caitlin Bennett shot rounds of 76-82 for a 158 (+14), placing her in a tie for ninth place.
